Privacy Policy
Effective October 14, 2026. Operated by Michael O’Brien, a resident of Summer Set POA. Contact: summerset.neighborhelp@yahoo.com.
Fixers and Friends collects only what its forms and features need, shows neighbors very little, does not sell your information, and keeps a private record after an account is deleted. This policy explains each of those points.
What we hold, why, and who can see it
| What we hold | Why | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| Your name | To show who offers help and who is writing | Neighbors see your first name. Moderators see your full name. |
| Your email | To match your sign-in link to your account | Moderators only. Never shown to neighbors. |
| Your street address as you typed it, plus a standardized copy | To confirm you live in the community and to spot many accounts at one address | Moderators only |
| The date you ticked "I live at this address in this community" | A record that you confirmed it | Moderators only |
| The date you agreed to the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy, and which version | A record that you agreed | Not shown on the site. The operator can look it up if needed. |
| Your listings: category, description, price, status | So neighbors can find help | Every neighbor in the community |
| Your requests for help: category, description, status | So neighbors can offer to help | Every neighbor in the community |
| Your messages | To arrange work | The people in the conversation. Moderators, when deciding a report, a disputed review or a case. |
| Reviews and ratings you give or receive | To help neighbors choose | Neighbors see the stars, the comment, the date and the reviewer's first name |
| Reports you make: reason and note | So moderators can review problems | Moderators |
| The moderator log and decision notes | To keep decisions accountable | Moderators. Entries name the people involved. |
| Featured-listing billing: a Stripe customer number, subscription number, status and dates | To run the optional paid extra | The operator. Stripe holds your card details. Fixers and Friends never sees or stores card numbers. |
| Sign-in links and your session | To sign you in and keep you signed in | Stored only as scrambled codes (hashes), not the codes themselves |
What we do not collect: your phone number (unless you type it into a message), your precise location, photos, contact lists, or analytics and advertising data. The site's pages load no third-party scripts.
Technical data. Cloudflare hosts Fixers and Friends, so it handles the IP address and technical details of every request, under its own privacy policy. Fixers and Friends itself stores an IP address in one case: failed attempts to use the moderator setup key. Those are kept for about a day, to block guessing.
Who else handles your data
- Cloudflare hosts the site and its database.
- Stripe processes payment, only if you buy a featured listing. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to what it collects.
- Email. Fixers and Friends sends no email today. When it does, the email provider will receive your address, and we will update this page first.
We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not use it for advertising. We may share it if the law requires, or to protect someone's safety.
Cookies
Fixers and Friends sets one cookie, named "session," when you sign in. The site needs it to know who you are. Page scripts cannot read it, and it is sent only over secure connections. It lasts 30 days or until you sign out. There are no analytics or advertising cookies. Stripe sets its own cookies on its own checkout pages.
Deleting your account, and what we keep
When you delete your account, you are signed out, your listings and requests are hidden, your conversations close (the other person can still read them), and any featured subscription is canceled. Reviews you wrote stay, under your first name.
We do not erase the underlying record right away. A private copy stays with the moderators so that someone cannot leave and rejoin to escape a bad history. It holds your name, email, address, listings, requests, messages and log entries. Neighbors cannot see it.
How long we keep it: We erase a deleted account's private record 12 months after it was deleted. That removes the account and everything tied to it, including its listings, requests, conversations and reviews. The operator also keeps database backups on a private computer and deletes them after 90 days. A record erased from the live site can remain in an older backup until then.
Your choices
- Edit, pause or resume your listings, and close your requests, at any time.
- Delete your account at the bottom of the Browse page.
- Write to summerset.neighborhelp@yahoo.com to see or correct what we hold, or to ask for removal beyond what deleting does. We will say yes unless the record is needed for safety, to settle an open case, or because the law requires it. We aim to reply within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have further legal rights. Write to us and we will respect them.
Children
Fixers and Friends is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. A young person who offers a service does so through a parent or guardian's account. If you find that a child has joined, or that a child's information is on the site, write to summerset.neighborhelp@yahoo.com and we will remove it.
Security
The site works only over secure (HTTPS) connections. Sign-in links work once and expire, and moderator-created links last 60 minutes. Moderator tools are limited to moderators. No system is perfectly secure. If you suspect a problem with your account, write to summerset.neighborhelp@yahoo.com.
Changes and contact
We will post any change to this policy with its date and show a notice on the site. Questions: summerset.neighborhelp@yahoo.com.
