Terms of Service
Effective October 14, 2026. Operated by Michael O’Brien, a resident of Summer Set POA. Contact: summerset.neighborhelp@yahoo.com.
These terms are the rules for using Fixers and Friends, a neighborhood help board for Summer Set POA. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them.
1. What Fixers and Friends is, and is not
Fixers and Friends is a bulletin board. Neighbors list services they offer, ask for help, and message each other. Fixers and Friends is not an employer, agency, contractor, insurer or payment processor. It is not an official service of Summer Set POA.
Fixers and Friends does not:
- run background checks;
- verify anyone's identity, address, license, insurance or skills;
- supervise or guarantee any work;
- handle payment for work. Neighbors agree on price and payment themselves.
Any arrangement is between the two neighbors. Fixers and Friends is not a party to it. Ratings and reviews are the opinions of other neighbors.
2. Who can use it
- You must be 18 or older and live in Summer Set POA. Owners of lots without a home on them, who do not live in the community, are not eligible.
- You must have joined with a valid invite link.
- The name, email and street address you give are not verified. When you tick "I live at this address in this community," you confirm it is true.
- Each adult has their own account. Several adults in one household may each have one.
- People under 18 may not hold an account. A young person who wants to offer a service may do so through a parent or guardian's account. That adult is responsible for everything done under it.
3. Your account
You sign in with one-time links, not a password. Keep your link private, because anyone who holds it can sign in as you. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your details accurate. Do not sell, share or lend your account.
4. Rules of use
Do not:
- harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone;
- post a false or misleading listing, request or review;
- offer anything illegal, or work that needs a license you do not hold;
- share another person's private information;
- use the site for spam or ads unrelated to local services;
- pretend to be someone else or to live somewhere you do not;
- create extra accounts to get around moderation, or try to get around the site's limits or security.
5. Safety is your responsibility
Use your own judgment about whom to hire and whom to let into your home. Check licenses and insurance for work that needs them. Parents and guardians decide who works with their children. Fixers and Friends does not vet anyone.
Categories involving children, pets, food or physical risk show a notice. The notice is a reminder, not a safeguard. Moderators do not watch the site in real time. In an emergency, call 911.
6. Listings, requests and categories
Listing a service is free. Each listing must be a real offer from you, in a fitting category, with an accurate description and price. Some categories show a notice and ask you to confirm that you hold any license the work needs, or that you understand the risks. If you tick that box, you are confirming it truthfully. You can edit, pause or resume your listings at any time. Moderators may hide or remove a listing that breaks these terms.
Asking for help is also free. A request must be a real need from you, in a fitting category, with an accurate description. A request has no price. If a neighbor offers to help, the two of you agree on the details and the price directly. Every neighbor in your community can see your request, with your first name, for up to 30 days or until you close it, and you can have up to 5 open requests at a time. Please keep your address, phone number, email and the dates you will be away out of your request, and share details in a message once you decide to talk with someone. Requests cannot be reviewed or featured. Moderators may hide or remove a request that breaks these terms.
7. Messages
Messages are for arranging work. Fixers and Friends does not show anyone's phone number or email. If you share your own in a message, that is your choice and your risk. Messages are private between the people in the conversation. Moderators may read a conversation when they need it to decide a report, a disputed review or a provider case. Do not send abusive messages or spam. Sending limits apply.
8. Reviews
- You can review a provider only after a real conversation in which the provider replied.
- You get one review per listing, and you can edit it. A review is 1 to 5 stars and an optional comment.
- Reviews must be honest and based on your own experience. No personal attacks.
- A provider who thinks a review is false or unfair can dispute it. While a dispute is open, the review is hidden from neighbors.
- A moderator decides whether the review stays or is removed. The decision is final. The reason the provider gave is not shown to the reviewer.
- A provider cannot dispute the same review again after a moderator has kept it.
9. Reports, moderation and removals
Anyone can report a listing or request. Three open reports flag a listing or request for a moderator to review. Nothing is removed automatically.
When a provider collects three warning signs within about six months, a moderator case opens. Warning signs are low ratings (1 or 2 stars), reviews a moderator removed, and listings or requests flagged by three or more reports. The moderator can close the case with no action, remove a listing or request, or remove the member.
Every moderator decision is recorded in a log with a note. Decisions are final, and a moderator may reverse one by restoring the listing, request or account. We may remove anyone who breaks these terms or makes the community unsafe, and we will usually tell you why. To ask for a second look, write to summerset.neighborhelp@yahoo.com.
10. Featured listings (an optional paid extra)
- A provider may pay $6 a month to have one listing shown first in its category. Only listings offering a service can be featured, not requests. The price shown at checkout applies. We will give notice before a price change takes effect.
- It is a subscription that renews monthly until canceled. Payment is handled by Stripe. Fixers and Friends does not store card numbers.
- Cancel any time with "Manage billing" on the My listings page. The listing stays featured until the end of the period you paid for. There is no refund or proration for the unused part, except where the law requires one.
- Featured listings with three or more reviews are ordered by rating. Ties and newer listings take turns about every six hours. Featuring is not an endorsement, and it does not mean anyone has been checked.
- While a moderator case about you is open, your listing is not shown as featured and your subscription is paused, so nothing is charged. If the case closes with no action, featuring and billing resume. If the listing or your account is removed or deleted, the subscription is canceled and the paid period is not refunded.
11. Ending your account
You can delete your account at the bottom of the Browse page. When you do:
- you are signed out and cannot sign back in;
- your listings and requests are hidden;
- your conversations close, though the other person can still read them;
- any featured subscription is canceled, with no refund for the paid period;
- reviews you wrote stay, under your first name;
- a private record stays with the moderators, as the Privacy Policy explains.
You cannot undo this yourself. A moderator can restore your account if you ask.
12. No warranties, and limits on our responsibility
Fixers and Friends is provided "as is." We make no promise that it will always work, or that any listing, request, review or neighbor is accurate, safe or reliable. We are not responsible for what neighbors do, for the quality or safety of any work, or for loss, damage or injury arising from an arrangement made through the site. Our total responsibility for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, which for most people is nothing. Nothing here limits responsibility that the law does not allow to be limited. You are responsible for your own conduct, and for any work you do or hire someone else to do.
13. Changes, governing law and contact
We may change these terms. We will post the new version with its date and show a notice on the site. If you keep using Fixers and Friends after a change takes effect, you accept it.
Missouri law governs these terms, and disputes go to the courts of Jefferson County, Missouri. If any part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
